When Esther and the people of God began to fast and pray, there was a divine intervention. God began to give Esther prophetic directions regarding the situation. She had a supernatural boldness to request the king’s attention, which was against the law at the time. But because of the power of fasting and prayer, Esther had favor with the king. He stretched out his scepter and invited her, which was against the law.

1 Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom. (Esther 5:1-3)

The fasting and prayers of Esther and the Jewish people had started to turn things around. Supernatural favor was released towards Esther.

Favor is very important for you to advance in any sphere of life and in the midst of the battles of life you will need favor. Favor causes you to receive what you do not deserve. It is out of favor that you have the words favorite and favoritism. When you obtain favor from God, you become His favorite and He demonstrates favoritism towards you. Under those circumstances you obtain what others are not able to obtain. He turns situations around and gives you a divine advantage.

One of the ways that supernatural favor is activated in difficult times is through the weapons of fasting and prayer. The king told Esther that regardless of what her request was, he was going to give her half of his kingdom.

If the power of God can be activated through fasting and prayer to move a king to grant requests, that should be an indication that God Himself will grant the requests of His people who cry out to Him day and night. There is no request too great for God to grant. It doesn't matter how long the situation has existed, God is still able to intervene.

After a series of meetings and events between the King, Esther and Haman, the Jews' enemy, the wicked plot was overruled. At the end of the story, Mordecai was honored and Haman was hanged. It took intensive fasting and prayer to overrule the plot of the enemy, but the Jews were delivered from the hands of their enemies.

So they hanged Haman and his whole family on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. The very plan of Haman was to “destroy, to kill, and to cause
